Map Diary for Android

Effective date: July 23, 2026

This policy explains how Map Diary accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Android application.

Information you provide

Map Diary lets you enter place titles, descriptions, tags, map links, addresses or coordinates, and up to five contact names and phone numbers for each saved place. Free personal locations are stored on your device. Map Diary does not request Android location permission and does not track your live location.

Google sign-in and Drive backup

Google sign-in is optional for Free personal use. When you sign in, Map Diary receives your Google account identifier, display name, email address, and profile-photo URL through Google and Firebase Authentication. If you use backup, your personal location list and theme preference are stored in Map Diary’s private application-data area in your own Google Drive. This backup is not visible as a normal Drive file and is used only to back up and restore Map Diary data.

Team groups

Team groups are a Pro feature and are currently limited to authorized testing accounts. Group names, membership identifiers, join requests, member profile details, and group locations are stored in Google Cloud Firestore. Approved members can view their group locations. Only the group creator can manage locations and membership approvals.

Advertising and consent

The Free version displays Google AdMob banner ads. Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may collect or share IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Map Diary uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request and manage advertising consent where required. You can reopen available ad privacy choices from the app menu.

Sharing and external apps

Map Diary shares location details only when you choose Share. Android’s system share sheet lets you select the receiving app. Directions and phone actions open an appropriate external maps or dialer app. Those services apply their own privacy policies.

Photos

Photo upload is marked “Coming soon” and is not available in this release. Map Diary does not upload location photos in version 1.0.0.

Security and retention

Network connections use encrypted HTTPS/TLS transport. Personal device data remains until you delete it or remove the app. Drive backup remains until you delete it from the app or request deletion. Cloud account and group information remains while needed to provide the service or until an account/data deletion request is completed, except where retention is required for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

Account and data deletion

You can delete your private Drive backup from the Map Diary menu. To request deletion of your Map Diary account and associated cloud data, use the account and data deletion page. Requests are normally completed within 30 days after ownership verification.

Children

Map Diary is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when app features or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
